Leg Pain

Back-Related Leg Pain Can Be Relieved by Chiropractic Care

Having back pain can make life a little less pleasant and depending on the severity can be, well for lack of a better word, very painful. It is even worse for those of us who suffer from back pain that also radiates to different parts of the body such as the arms and legs. This creates a debilitating feeling that makes it very difficult to work, sleep and overall enjoy life. There are many medications of course that can treat back pain however many of these are costly, slightly addictive, and over time can stop working as your body adjusts and adapts to the medication levels.
Are There Alternatives to Medication for Leg Pain Resulting from Back Pain?
Luckily there are alternatives to medications that can provide you with relief for your back-related leg pain that you are feeling as the pain from your back radiates out through your body.

The alternative is chiropractic care, and the effects can help resolve leg pains.

Research Shows Chiropractic Treatments Can Help
Recently a group of researchers discovered that chiropractic treatments are very beneficial to individuals suffering from back-related leg pain. The results were even more positive when the chiropractic treatments were coupled with exercise routines that can be performed in the home.

The study was conducted over the course of one year and involved nearly 200 participants. Each participant was between the ages of 21 and 57 and had endured back-related leg pain for at least a period of one month and the severity of the pain had to be a three or more (on a scale of 1-10). Additionally, each participant in the study had to have been using prescription medication prior to the chiropractic treatment for at least a month before the study to ensure that comparable results could be generated.

After only 12 weeks of chiropractic treatment mixed with some home exercises, the majority of participants receiving the spinal manipulation and exercise as treatments had experienced a 75 percent reduction in the level of pain that they were feeling compared to the period before the study.

Prescription Drugs Can Work but So Can Chiropractic Care
The results at the end of the yearlong trial showed that the prescription drugs yielded similar pain relief results as the participants receiving chiropractic care. While this does mean that the prescription medications work well for pain relief of back-related leg pain, the study also clearly indicates that an effective alternative treatment is available that doesn't require medications.

So in summary, chiropractic care is a viable option for relieving pain of back-related pains that radiate throughout your body, and you should consult with your chiropractor about treatments for your pain so that you may be able to ditch the medications for the relief you need.
